AARCH: The Association of Addiction Recovery Care Homes of New York - HOME
AARCH: The Association of Addiction Recovery Care Homes of New York
AARCH was formed in 1979 by individuals concerned with the advancement of the community residence movement.

They understood that sharing our experience, strengths and hopes would benefit all community residences in the same way that this sharing enhances the chemically dependent person's recovery.

AARCH
is a network of addiction community residences in New York State. Our Community Residences:
Return residents to their community as productive tax paying citizens.
Reduce dependence on public funded programs.
Save lives.
Assist residents to regain dignity and self-respect
Reduce the cost of chemical dependency to society as a whole.

The chances of an individual staying in the recovery process are enhanced by the use of community residences working in cooperation with other treatment programs

Welcome to the AARCH website.
AARCH is a network of Recovery Community Residences across the state of New York.

This association was created over 30 years ago to provide advocacy for community residences and to ensure strong representation of our member agencies in Albany. Our association seeks to influence public policy and to keep its members abreast of the many changes that affect our programs.

AARCH also shares technical information to make certain that we are operating within the confines of state regulations. It sponsors a yearly conference to offer quality training on cutting edge topics to staff and administrators alike. Its members communicate regularly via an Internet listserve.

By partnering with other facilities, we seek to develop comprehensive solutions to the common problems that are particular to the environment of community residences. We share our experience and best practice ideas to enhance our physical plants, programs and staff.

Always there, and always willing to assist, AARCH has been providing advocacy and strong leadership for over 30 years. Together, we will continue to have a strong voice for community based residential programs.

If you would like to join or have any questions related to our conference, public policy/advocacy or membership please feel free to contact the appropriate committee chair or officers listed on the organizational chart on the “About Us” page.

Community residences are the oldest facet of the continuum of care for the treatment of substance use disorders. The chances of an individual staying involved in the recovery process are enhanced by the use of community residences working in cooperation with other treatment programs.

Chemical dependency community residences teach their residents to practice the principles of long term recovery, they provide cost effective care for individuals with substance use disorders that lack a safe and sober support network in their community.
